An exquisite Antique mid Victorian Scottish brooch featuring a fabulous horseshoe in the centre inlaid with beautiful blue Montrose Agates which are found along the east coast of Scotland and known for their patterned, greyish, blue bands that are unique to this form of Agate.
The Horseshoe has long been a symbol of good luck and became a popular image in Victorian jewellery when there was an increase in superstition.
The brooch is fashioned in Silver with decorative Celtic engraving around the outer circumference along with further Agates. It’s been well preserved throughout the years and held securely by a strong pin and safety chain.
