A beautiful, large antique Victorian butterfly brooch boasting fabulous wings layered in a vibrant green Enamel on the front and a lovely sky-blue underneath. The Enamel work is truly exquisite and has a glimmering metallic texture and fine detailing.
The butterfly’s body and head are set with Baroque Pearls leading to two 0.05ct Rubies stretched out on the antenna.
The Baroque Pearls have a wonderful lustre with a rich creamy tone and unique for their irregular non-spherical shape which are formed in freshwater mussels or saltwater Oysters.
The piece is modelled in Yellow Metal and Silver and is a stunning example of the Victorian insect jewellery of the 19th century which is highly collectable today and was considered a symbol of good luck to the wearer during the Victorian Era.
We recommend you insure for £1,200. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
