A wonderful antique Edwardian bar brooch from the early 20th Century featuring a colourful spider on top crowned with an aquamarine and a pink quartz.
Insect and spider pieces grew in popularity at the turn of the 20th Century due to a renewed love of the natural world following the vast urbanisation of the country. They were often decorated with colourful gemstones to enhance their beauty and value.
The piece is fashioned in 9ct gold and fitted with a strong pin and safety chain for added security when worn. It’s a great collector’s piece and in excellent condition.
